STYLING GUIDE: Wearing holiday looks after the holidays

The holidays are officially over, and for most of us, we have some leftover sparkly, sequined items hanging up in our closet. It’s tradition to go out and buy a new outfit to ring in the new year; however, that outfit will likely never see the light of day again after the celebrations are all over. Seems like a waste to buy such a fabulous outfit but only get to wear it one time! So the question is: How do you wear a holiday outfit long after the holiday season is over?

Lucky for you, metallics, silk, and velvet textiles are trending this spring. Which means wearing that party outfit into the warmer months isn’t so crazy or so tricky after all. Here are some tips and tricks for giving your holiday wardrobe items a spring-y update:

  • Give your statement skirt a casual, eclectic touch by adding a jean jacket and sneakers.
  • Add a cozy draped cardigan over a party dress to tone it down and make it office appropriate.
  • Pair your fur vest with jeans and a statement tee for a rocker look that you can wear from day to night.
  • A velvet top with dark, skinny denim makes for a easy chic otufit you can wear to brunch on the weekends.

So dust off that New Year’s look and get ready to rock it all year long!

Right now in NorCal we are trending toward warm weather, not January. Do you have suggestions for the "young at heart" who are not so lithe anymore? At your stores do you accept Plus sizes?
